Manipur policeman killed in knife attack during anti-drug operation

A Manipur policeman died after being stabbed during an anti-drug operation in Thoubal district on June 3 evening. The attacker was arrested the following morning.

Havildar Kh. Suresh Singh of the 4th India Reserve Battalion was attacked by one of the detainees during the operation. Md. Naobi alias Mahil, aged 25, stabbed Singh with a knife, causing fatal injuries before fleeing with another detainee. Singh was taken to the district hospital but was declared dead on arrival. He served as a member of the state police commando unit based in Thoubal. State police stated that the attacker and the other detainee were held shortly after the incident. The arrests took place on June 4 morning.
