Max Meyer outduels Paul Skenes in Marlins win

Max Meyer delivered a strong performance to lead the Miami Marlins to a 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon at PNC Park.

Meyer allowed one run on six hits and three walks while striking out nine batters. The 27-year-old improved to 7-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.75.

The Marlins scored solo home runs from Heriberto Hernández and Joe Mack in the second inning against Paul Skenes. They added two more runs in the eighth.

Meyer reflected on his return to the mound where he previously suffered an elbow injury. "It's kind of cool to be back on the mound, remember stuff," he said.

Manager Clayton McCullough noted the matchup with Skenes. "It's showing that Meyer can go up against anyone," McCullough said.
