Minister Marco Buzzi testifies at STJ on sexual harassment accusations

Suspended minister Marco Buzzi testified on Monday (15) to a Superior Court of Justice commission investigating sexual harassment complaints against him. He denied the accusations and presented evidence, according to his lawyer.

Buzzi arrived at the STJ around 5:20 p.m. accompanied by lawyers. He hid his face with papers when passing journalists. The testimony is part of an internal inquiry opened by the court after accusations made by an 18-year-old woman and a court employee.

Lawyer Paulo Emílio Catta Preta said after the hearing that Buzzi denied the facts and submitted agendas and time sheets to show the crimes could not have occurred. He also cited witnesses and videos that contradict the beach complaint in Balneário Camboriú.

The commission has already heard about 20 people. Buzzi has been suspended since February 10 and also faces an inquiry at the STF and an investigation at the CNJ. The defense will have time to request new evidence before the report goes to the STJ plenary.
