ردت شرطة أوربرو على الانتقادات الموجهة لمبادرة "توقف عن إطلاق النار"، مؤكدة أن هذه المنهجية أثمرت نتائج ملموسة بعد مرحلتها التشغيلية.

تدافع شرطة أوربرو عن مبادرة "توقف عن إطلاق النار"، والمعروفة أيضاً باسم التدخل في عنف المجموعات (GVI)، والتي تهدف إلى الحد من عنف العصابات.

وصرحت ضابطة الشرطة يوهانا يوهانسون لإذاعة "بي 4 أوربرو" بأن عدد الحوادث وحالات الوفاة السنوي قد انخفض بعد بدء المرحلة التشغيلية للمبادرة.

وكانت الشرطة في أوسترغوتلاند قد نصحت سابقاً بعدم استخدام هذه المنهجية، معتبرة أنه لم يثبت نجاعتها في السياق السويدي.
