Producer Moritz Borman dies at 71 on film set

Moritz Borman, a veteran producer known for films including several Oliver Stone projects and two Terminator movies, died July 1 on a film set in Germany. He was 71.

Borman died of apparent natural causes while working on an upcoming John Lee Hancock-directed legal drama for Netflix, according to his longtime producing partners Eric Kopeloff and Philip Schulz-Deyle.

The German-born producer had more than 25 feature film credits over four decades. His work included Under the Volcano, The Quiet American, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, Alexander, World Trade Center, W, Savages and Snowden.

Kopeloff and Schulz-Deyle said in a statement that Borman helped build bridges between Europe and Hollywood. They added that his legacy will continue through the films he made and the filmmakers he inspired.

Borman founded Pacifica Pictures in 1997. He began his career in Germany before moving to Los Angeles and attending the American Film Institute.
