The Renovación Nacional caucus decided to grant its deputies freedom of action regarding the constitutional accusation against former minister Nicolás Grau.
The decision was made on Tuesday during a lunch at Congress. Five deputies lean toward supporting the indictment, six are reflecting and two reject the accusation for lack of merit.
Among the supporters are Daniel Valenzuela and Francisco Orrego, signatories of the text, as well as Eduardo Durán. Valenzuela stated that with three trillion dollars in pending payments one cannot look the other way.
The president of the Partido Nacional Libertario, Johannes Kaiser, stressed that senators must decide whether to hold Grau or current minister Jorge Quiroz responsible for the financial disorder. The vote requires 78 votes in the Chamber.
