Yolanda Santos, former Environment and Tourism councilor of Soria City Council, has resigned her seat and PSOE membership after being detained in an operation over alleged irregularities in contracts.
Santos, investigated for six alleged crimes including administrative prevarication, influence peddling and money laundering, testified before the judge on Wednesday and was released on provisional liberty with the obligation to appear every fifteen days.
The former councilor issued a statement justifying her resignation on personal and institutional grounds to avoid harming Soria City Council or the Socialist Party. The PSOE had already requested her precautionary suspension from membership.
The investigation, declared secret, focuses on municipal contracts worth 287,349.75 euros and regional ones worth 126,178.04 euros awarded to Biosfera Soria SL, a company in which Santos held a stake. Six people were detained in total and a seventh is listed as investigated.
