Squella values libertarians' conditions to join Kast's government

Arturo Squella, leader of Republicanos, praised the libertarians' interest in joining José Antonio Kast's future government, emphasizing their right to set clear terms. The Partido Nacional Libertario, led by Johannes Kaiser, conditions its support on eliminating programs like PAIG and ESI, without losing its identity. Squella anticipates these talks will reach a successful outcome.

From José Antonio Kast's headquarters, Arturo Squella, leader of Republicanos and senator-elect for Valparaíso, addressed the conditions set by the Partido Nacional Libertario to join the administration starting in March 2026, succeeding Gabriel Boric.

Johannes Kaiser, a deputy and former presidential candidate, stated his party's willingness to be part of the officialdom while preserving its identity. Among the non-negotiable points, Kaiser cited the discontinuation of the Programa de Acompañamiento a la Identidad de Género (PAIG) and Educación Sexual Integral (ESI).

Squella viewed this initiative positively: “It is something very positive; it gives us signals that they have interest and enthusiasm to be part of the future officialdom.” Although he has not yet reviewed the detailed content, he sees it aligned with Kast's campaign for an “emergency government.”

“It is a conversation that will obviously add to the others we are having with political parties, and I get the impression that it will reach a good port,” Squella stated. He added that “we are very pleased to eventually have the support of the Partido Nacional Libertario.”

The Republican leader emphasized the libertarians' right to define their terms: “They have every right to state what the terms are under which they want to join a future government.” This, according to Squella, strengthens relations for the next four years, building a deeper and transparent collaboration.

This negotiation is part of broader discussions to consolidate the future officialdom, in a context of mutual interest in a conservative alliance.
