World No. 7 Taylor Fritz lost to Alexander Zverev 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals on July 8. The American took a medical timeout for his knee during the second set.
Taylor Fritz’s Wimbledon campaign ended in the quarterfinals after a straight-sets defeat to Alexander Zverev. The match lasted one hour and 59 minutes on Court 1 at the All England Club.
Fritz, who led their head-to-head record 10-5 entering the match, failed to convert any break points. He received treatment for his knee while trailing 2-1 in the second set and won only five more games after that point.
In his post-match press conference, Fritz praised Zverev. “He’s gonna be extremely tough to beat the way he’s serving,” he said. “He was very aggressive with his forehand and his backhand as well. Very aggressive. Hit the ball great.”
Zverev secured his first Wimbledon semifinal appearance and will next face Arthur Fery. Fritz has dealt with knee tendinitis since 2025 and reached the finals of two grass-court events before Wimbledon.
