Titans sign Jeffery Simmons to record defensive tackle extension

The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a three-year, $105.8 million contract extension with defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. The deal, announced on Friday, includes $100 million in guarantees and runs through the 2030 season.

The extension sets a new benchmark for the position with an average annual value of $35.2 million. It surpasses the previous high held by Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Simmons, who was selected by the Titans in the first round of the 2019 draft, called Tennessee his second home. He thanked the organization, his family and teammates for their support.

"From day one, this organization believed in me, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue to pour into this franchise and community," Simmons said. He added that his focus remains on helping the team compete for championships.

Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi described Simmons as a pillar of the franchise. Borgonzi noted that Simmons leads both on and off the field and praised the decision to retain one of the team's top players.
