A mother and her two children were placed in custody on Wednesday after forcing their way into the Clémence-Isaure college in Toulouse while armed.
The three suspects, whose children are aged 15 and 17, forced their way into the school late in the morning. They assaulted a supervisor and two young girls following a dispute involving a ninth-grade student.
Police seized several weapons from their vehicle, including knives, a butcher’s blade, tear gas and a fake pistol. Authorities have opened an investigation for attempted murder.
The individuals are being held in custody for armed intrusion into a school and aggravated assault. Students were sent home at midday while a support hotline will be offered to staff and pupils.
The regional education authority stated that college teams are working with police and the prefecture to ensure safety and continuity of classes.
