TRICEL rejects Santelices and Bassaletti campaign expense renditions

The Electoral Qualifying Tribunal rejected appeals by Macarena Santelices and Enrique Bassaletti on Wednesday, June 17. Both must return funds due to inconsistencies in their 2024 accounts.

The TRICEL confirmed SERVEL observations on Santelices electoral expenses, the former candidate for Metropolitan Governor. It rejected $290.140.903 out of $760.293.003 declared, or 38.16 percent. The amounts cover invoices from The 975 SpA, Abogados Montalva Limitada and Prisa Media Chile S.A.

For Bassaletti, the former candidate for mayor of Maipú, the TRICEL rejected $16.704.468 out of $77.382.484 declared. This equals 21.57 percent. The observations involved services from Abogados Montalva Limitada, brigadistas and propaganda transport.

Both are current deputies of the Partido Republicano. They will lose public funding for the objected expenses and face possible fines. The TRICEL cited serious violations of Law N° 19.884 for exceeding the 20 percent threshold of rejected expenses.
