TVN's board and the government of José Antonio Kast are advancing a commission to define a mixed financing model that ensures the public channel's continuity.
Board president Patricio Dussaillant and executive director Susana García are working in coordination to defend TVN's public role amid the channel's economic crisis. Dussaillant stated: “Tengo la esperanza de que nos podamos alinear todos y que lleguemos, en conjunto, a los acuerdos necesarios sobre un nuevo modelo de financiamiento”.
The Executive convened a special commission to evaluate long-term financing alternatives. Dussaillant and Minister Claudio Alvarado will appear before the Senate culture commission on July 6 to present the situation.
García noted that the State must cover specific costs of the public mission, such as regional antennas, the international signal and the historical archive. The channel carries millions in debt and recorded losses of 3.818 billion pesos in the first third of 2026.
