Two men caught with 15 kg of marijuana in Gigante, Huila

During Semana Santa security operations in Huila, army troops and police captured two men transporting 15 kg of marijuana on a motorcycle in rural Gigante. The seizure took place at a checkpoint in Puerto Seco on the Gigante-La Plata road. The suspects were handed over to prosecutors.

Authorities conducted the procedure in the Puerto Seco sector, a strategic point on the road linking Gigante and La Plata. Soldiers from Batallón Especial Energético y Vial N.° 12, coordinated with the Policía Nacional, spotted the two individuals during a routine motorcycle check.

The vehicle inspection revealed 15 kilograms of a substance matching marijuana, packed in 30 plastic bags ready for distribution. The men were arrested in flagrante delicto for the alleged crime of drug trafficking, manufacturing, or possession.

The suspects, motorcycle, and drugs were transferred to the Unidad de Reacción Inmediata (URI) of the Fiscalía General de la Nación for judicial proceedings.

This outcome is part of heightened checks on Huila roads during Semana Santa, aimed at countering drug trafficking and ensuring safety amid high vehicle traffic. Forces continue permanent operations on key routes.
