عينت جامعة نيروبي البروفيسور أيوب نجوروجي غيتاو مديراً جديداً للجامعة في أعقاب اجتماع خاص للمجلس في 14 مايو 2026. وقد أثار القرار احتجاجات فورية من منافسين يزعمون أنه يتحدى أوامر قضائية قائمة. وينهي هذا التعيين أشهر من الإدارة المؤقتة في أقدم جامعة في كينيا.

وافق مجلس الجامعة على تعيين غيتاو كمدير تاسع للجامعة خلال جلسته يوم الخميس. كما عين المجلس البروفيسور جوزيا أومولو أدودا نائباً للمدير للشؤون المالية والتخطيط والتطوير. وأشاد المجلس بالمديرة المؤقتة البروفيسورة مارجريت جيسانج هاتشينسون لتوجيهها المؤسسة خلال الفترة الانتقالية. أدان البروفيسور ديوك أوموندي أوراتا هذه الخطوة، وصرح لموقع Kenyans.co.ke أن المجلس تصرف باحتقار لأوامر المحكمة الصادرة في يناير 2026 التي جمدت عملية التوظيف. وأكد أوراتا أنه سيسعى لتوجيه تهم الازدراء، مشيراً إلى أن القضية من المقرر النظر فيها في 26 مايو 2026. يعود النزاع على القيادة إلى جولات التوظيف السابقة عبر لجنة الخدمة العامة. ويدعي أوراتا أنه كان ينبغي اختياره بعد انسحاب البروفيسور بيتانيج ندمو في عام 2025. وقد واجهت الجامعة حالة من عدم الاستقرار منذ رحيل المدير السابق البروفيسور ستيفن كياما في سبتمبر 2024.
