A video of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner greeting Diego Maradona on his 60th birthday was presented Monday during the trial over his death in San Isidro.
The footage was offered by lawyer Mario Baudry, representing Verónica Ojeda, during Vanesa Morla’s testimony at the 25th hearing of the oral trial. Judges Alberto Gaig, Alberto Ortolani and Pablo Rolón rejected its admission as evidence.
The recording, dated October 30, 2020, shows Maradona receiving the call from the then vice president. "I wanted to tell you that I love you very much," Kirchner is heard saying, adding: "Take good care of yourself and a big kiss on these 60 years."
Vanesa Morla also stated that Maradona himself chose the Tigre house for his home hospitalization. The video surfaced one day before the reports’ publication date, within the proceedings investigating the alleged simple homicide with eventual intent of the former coach.
