President Claudia Sheinbaum presented the Olinia 1, a compact urban electric vehicle developed in Mexico, during an exhibition in Zumpango, State of Mexico.
President Claudia Sheinbaum drove the vehicle during the exhibition in Zumpango. The Olinia 1 is a compact urban vehicle with capacity for six passengers plus space for wheelchairs, a top speed of 50 km/h and a range of more than 125 km. It uses a 14.7 kWh LFP battery that recharges in eight hours on a 110-volt outlet or four hours on 220 volts and supports the Tesla NACS charging standard. Consumption is reported at 49 cents per kilometer. The initial price is 150,000 pesos, with deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2027. The project includes three models and targets initial production of 20,000 units per year, scaling to 50,000 by 2029. More than ten national and international business groups have expressed interest in public-private partnerships, with an export focus on Latin American markets including Peru, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Nicaragua and Guatemala.
