The Mexican government presented the Olinia electric car on Sunday, an urban low-cost vehicle developed in the country with international support.
President Claudia Sheinbaum drove the vehicle during the exhibition in Zumpango, State of Mexico. Olinia reaches a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour and has a range of 125 kilometers. The car has a 14.5 kilowatt battery that allows an 8 to 12 hour workday. Its consumption is 49 cents per kilometer, representing significant savings compared to gasoline vehicles. The initial price is 150 thousand pesos, with deliveries scheduled for summer 2027. The project includes three models and will use the NACS charging standard compatible with Tesla.
