Former FIA head of aerodynamics Jason Somerville has officially started his new role at the Alpine Formula 1 team after completing six months of gardening leave.

Somerville takes the newly created position of deputy technical director and reports to technical chief David Sanchez. He is reunited at Alpine with managing director Steve Nielsen, with whom he previously worked at the FIA and F1 management.
