The Guarantee Court of Iquique ordered preventive prison for a driver who ran over a motorcyclist and dragged her on his hood. The incident happened last December and the victim suffered less serious injuries.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 20 on Colo Colo street in Iquique. Prosecutor Jocelyn Pacheco explained that the defendant hit the victim three times while she rode a scooter motorcycle and then scolded her for going slowly.
When the woman said she would call Carabineros, the driver advanced toward her. She jumped onto the hood to avoid being run over and was dragged several blocks while the vehicle zigzagged.
The court accepted the request from the Prosecutor's Office and ordered preventive detention on Sunday. It also set a 60-day period to investigate the crimes of frustrated homicide, simple damages and failure to report the accident.
