Tesla has confirmed that its Robotaxi service in Miami is running without any human supervision. The announcement came from the company's head of AI on July 3.
Ashok Elluswamy posted on X that the fleet operates unsupervised. The service launched on June 3 and covers a compact 10 to 14 square mile geofence in western Miami-Dade County.
The zone stretches from West Miami toward Doral and Sweetwater. It is bounded by SR-826 to the north and US-41 to the south, while excluding downtown Miami, Miami Beach, the airport, and most of Coral Gables.
Initial operations used two Model Y vehicles, growing to three within 48 hours. A nearby staging lot holds additional vehicles ready for expansion.
Miami becomes the second major U.S. city after Austin to offer unsupervised Robotaxi rides from the first day.
