Amy Helm has been removed from the management of Levon Helm Studios following a shareholder vote in May. The move comes amid a family dispute involving her stepmother Sandra Helm and musician Brian Parillo.
A shareholder vote on May 26 resulted in Amy Helm's ouster from Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock. Brian Parillo, a longtime shareholder, took over management with support from Sandra Helm and Barbara O’Brien.
An altercation between Amy Helm and Parillo occurred on May 28, prompting a police response. No charges were filed after the incident at the venue known as the Barn.
In early June Amy Helm filed in Ulster County Surrogate’s Court seeking a guardian for Sandra Helm. She alleged manipulation and elder abuse by Parillo.
Sandra Helm has denied the claims and expressed support for Parillo. Amy Helm posted a statement on Instagram on July 12 stating she and former staff are no longer involved with decisions at the studio.
