John Lydon has declared that he will never forgive his former Sex Pistols bandmates over a 2021 lawsuit and described any reunion as impossible.
Lydon told Rolling Stone that the legal battle occurred while his wife Nora was dying of Alzheimer’s. He said the others filed the case to force licensing of the band’s music for the 2022 Disney+ series Pistol.
“I’ll never forgive them for the way that they piled that court case on me while my wife was dying of Alzheimer’s,” Lydon stated. He added that the dispute left him unable to cover his wife’s care costs and called the series a “mockumentary.”
When asked about a possible reunion, Lydon replied that it was “in the minus infinities.” He singled out bassist Glen Matlock, saying he has “never liked him” and calling him “a very unlikeable fellow.”
Lydon is currently preparing a North American tour with Public Image Ltd later this year. The current lineup of Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter is scheduled to play UK and Ireland dates this winter.
