The Bomas of Kenya International Conference Centre is now expected to be completed by September due to construction delays, MPs have been informed. Parliamentary committees inspected the site and confirmed it would miss the May 11-12 deadline for the Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth Summit. The summit has been relocated.
The Senate Committee on Roads, Transportation and Infrastructure visited the Bomas construction site on April 30, 2026. They were briefed that the project remains incomplete with a new completion timeline of September, after the Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth Summit scheduled for May 11-12 was relocated.
Construction of the Ksh30 billion project began in March 2025 to boost Kenya's capacity for large international conferences. The complex will feature a presidential pavilion for up to 30 heads of state and space for 11,000 delegates in 35 meeting rooms. It includes a 5,000-seat main auditorium, a 3,500-seat secondary hall, a hospitality zone, retail spaces, and more.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo provided a progress update on April 20, 2026, sharing images of ongoing work. The National Assembly Committee on Tourism and Wildlife confirmed on April 22 inspection that renovations, including auditorium upgrades and luxury wings, would miss the May deadline.
The facility spans over 323,500 square metres near the Lang’ata Road and Magadi Road intersection in Nairobi. The original completion was set for April, with events to start a month later.
