Kituo cha Bomas of Kenya International Conference Centre kinatarajiwa kukamilika Septemba, baada ya kucheleweshwa na ujenzi. Kamati za Bunge zilitembelea eneo la ujenzi na kuthibitishwa kuwa haitakuwa tayari kwa ajili ya Mkutano wa Ushirikiano wa Afrika na Ufaransa uliopangwa Mei 11 na 12. Mkutano huu umehamishiwa mahali pengine.

Kamati ya Seneti ya Barabara, Uchukuzi na Miundombinu ilitembelea eneo la ujenzi la Bomas la 30 bilioni ya Kshs tarehe 30 Aprili 2026. Walipata taarifa kuwa ujenzi haujakamilika na tarehe mpya ya kukamilika ni Septemba, baada ya mkutano wa Ufaransa-Afrika kuhamishwa.

Ujenzi ulianza Machi 2025 ili kuongeza uwezo wa Kenya kushikilia mikutano mikubwa ya kimataifa. Kituo hicho kinajumuisha pavilioni ya raisi inayoweza kuchukua vichwa 30 vya nchi na nafasi kwa wagenzi 11,000 katika vyumba 35 vya mikutano. Pia kitakuwa na ukumbi mkuu wa viti 5,000 na ukumbi mdogo wa 3,500, pamoja na eneo la utalii na maduka.

Katibu Mkuu Mkuu wa Mambo ya Ndani Raymond Omollo alitoa ripoti ya maendeleo tarehe 20 Aprili 2026, akishiriki picha za ujenzi unaoendelea. Kamati ya Bunge la Taifa ya Utalii na Wanyamapori ilithibitisha kuwa ujenzi hautakuwa tayari Mei 11-12 baada ya ukaguzi wa Aprili 22.

Kituo kinapatikana karibu na makutano ya Barabara ya Lang’ata na Magadi huko Nairobi, na ina eneo la zaidi ya mita za mraba 323,500. Tarehe ya awali ya kukamilika ilikuwa Aprili, na kuanza kushikilia matukio baada ya mwezi mmoja.
