KeNHA yaripoti maendeleo ya barabara ya Isiolo-Mandera yenye thamani ya Sh100 bilioni

Mamlaka ya Barabara za Kitaifa nchini Kenya (KeNHA) imetoa taarifa kuhusu maendeleo ya ujenzi wa barabara ya kilomita 740 inayounganisha Isiolo na Mandera, ikitaja tarehe ya kukamilika Januari 2028.

KeNHA ilisema sehemu ya kilomita 57 kati ya Wajir na Tarbaj, pamoja na njia ya kilomita mbili inayoelekea mji wa Tarbaj, imekamilika kwa asilimia 17. Sehemu nyingine ya kilomita 64 kati ya Tarbaj na Kotulo imefikia asilimia 30 ya maendeleo.

Ujenzi ulianza Agosti 2024 na unatarajiwa kukamilika Januari 31, 2028, kulingana na mhandisi wa mradi Antony Mutua. Hii inatofautiana na taarifa ya awali ya Naibu Rais Kithure Kindiki aliyesema itakamilika Juni 2027.

Mradi wa Sh100 bilioni unafadhiliwa pamoja na Benki ya Dunia na serikali ya Kenya. Benki ya Dunia iliidhinisha mkopo wa Sh37.6 bilioni wiki chache zilizopita ili kusaidia ujenzi wa kilomita 518 na usakinishaji wa nyaya za nyuzi za macho.
