The Kenya National Highways Authority has announced plans to build two highways spanning 745 kilometres across five counties in western Kenya.

The Kenya National Highways Authority has announced plans to construct two highways under the Lake Victoria Basin Development Program. The routes include a 395-kilometre road from Matayos to Otongo and a 350-kilometre road from Bay to Muhuru Bay.

The roads will pass through Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori counties. KeNHA stated that financing has already been secured from the World Bank.

The authority has invited consulting firms to conduct a six-month socio-economic study. The study will assess infrastructure needs within a 10-kilometre radius of the proposed alignments.

Firms must have at least 10 years of experience. The study aims to identify investments that maximise benefits for local communities.
