Ruto confirms matulo airport expansion and nakuru-malaba highway

President William Ruto confirmed plans to expand Matulo Airstrip in Bungoma and build a 300-kilometre highway from Mau Summit to Malaba.

President William Ruto confirmed the expansion of Matulo Airstrip in Bungoma County during a meeting with faith leaders at State House in Nairobi on Saturday.

He said the Kenya Airports Authority has been instructed to extend the runway and construct a new terminal building at the facility. The terminal is expected to be completed by December this year.

Ruto also noted that expansion work at Kakamega airport is already 70 per cent complete. He added that the government has secured funds for a feasibility study on the Ksh130 billion Mau Summit-Malaba highway project.

The president said he expects to launch construction of the 300-kilometre road in April when he returns to open the Rironi-Mau Summit highway.
