Le président William Ruto a confirmé les projets d'agrandissement de l'aérodrome de Matulo à Bungoma et la construction d'une autoroute de 300 kilomètres reliant Mau Summit à Malaba.

Le président William Ruto a confirmé l'expansion de l'aérodrome de Matulo, dans le comté de Bungoma, lors d'une rencontre avec des chefs religieux à la State House de Nairobi samedi.

Il a déclaré que la Kenya Airports Authority a reçu pour instruction de prolonger la piste et de construire un nouveau terminal sur le site. La livraison du terminal est prévue pour décembre prochain.

M. Ruto a également noté que les travaux d'expansion de l'aéroport de Kakamega sont déjà achevés à 70 pour cent. Il a ajouté que le gouvernement a obtenu les fonds nécessaires pour une étude de faisabilité concernant le projet d'autoroute Mau Summit-Malaba, d'un coût de 130 milliards de shillings kenyans.

Le président a indiqué qu'il prévoit de lancer la construction de cette route de 300 kilomètres en avril, lors de son retour pour inaugurer l'autoroute Rironi-Mau Summit.
