O presidente William Ruto confirmou planos para expandir a pista de pouso de Matulo, em Bungoma, e construir uma rodovia de 300 quilômetros de Mau Summit a Malaba.

O presidente William Ruto confirmou a expansão da pista de pouso de Matulo, no condado de Bungoma, durante uma reunião com líderes religiosos na State House, em Nairóbi, no sábado.

Ele afirmou que a Autoridade de Aeroportos do Quênia foi instruída a estender a pista e construir um novo terminal de passageiros nas instalações. A previsão é de que o terminal seja concluído até dezembro deste ano.

Ruto também observou que as obras de expansão no aeroporto de Kakamega já estão 70% concluídas. Ele acrescentou que o governo garantiu recursos para um estudo de viabilidade do projeto da rodovia Mau Summit-Malaba, orçado em 130 bilhões de xelins quenianos.

O presidente disse que espera lançar a construção da estrada de 300 quilômetros em abril, quando retornará para inaugurar a rodovia Rironi-Mau Summit.
