La Tanzanie conteste l'affirmation de Ruto sur la supériorité routière du Kenya

En réponse aux remarques du président William Ruto le 19 avril 2026, lors d'un service religieux à Karen, où il justifiait les prix élevés du carburant au Kenya en affirmant que ses 20 000 km de routes goudronnées surpassaient le total cumulé de l'Ouganda, de la Tanzanie, de la RDC, du Rwanda, du Burundi et du Soudan du Sud, le gouvernement tanzanien a répliqué le 21 avril. Un ministre tanzanien a déclaré que la Tanzanie entretient à elle seule 16 000 km de routes goudronnées dans les zones urbaines et rurales, et que le total est-africain dépasse les 22 000 km. « Il faut savoir que la Tanzanie est un pays à revenu intermédiaire de la tranche inférieure, et qu'en Afrique de l'Est, nous ne sommes que deux pays, la Tanzanie et le Kenya », a déclaré le ministre. « Donc, ces chiffres qui nous dénigrent, nous autres pays d'Afrique de l'Est, sont faux. »
