A Yolo County judge has approved murder charges against 71-year-old David Walker in connection with the deaths of two 17-year-old girls hit while riding bicycles last year.
The approval came Monday in court. Prosecutors allege Walker struck Jaea Chatman and Layla Clemons near Jefferson Boulevard and Bevan Road around 9 p.m. on August 2, 2025, after consuming six to eight ounces of vodka.
Walker left the scene, made a U-turn, returned to view one victim's body, and spoke with witnesses before departing again, according to prosecutors. The girls' bodies were found on opposite sides of the road with their bicycles crushed.
Jaea's mother, Satori Todd, described Walker's return to the scene as disturbing yet providing some peace that her daughter may not have suffered. Jaea's father, Jerry Chatman, stated there would be no forgiveness and expressed hope for continued justice through the legal process.
Walker faces eight charges total, including murder.
