Oil firms will implement another round of fuel price hikes this week, with diesel seeing double-digit increases amid elevated global oil prices. Gasoline and kerosene prices also rose, though at slower rates.
MANILA, Philippines — Oil firms announced increases of more than P12 per liter for diesel, effective Tuesday, March 31.
Shell and Jetti Petroleum raised diesel by P12.90 per liter, while PetroGazz, Seaoil and UniOil implemented P12.50 per liter hikes. For gasoline, Shell added P2.90, UniOil and PetroGazz P2.50, Jetti P1, and Seaoil held prices steady. Kerosene saw Shell raise by P2.40 and Seaoil by P2 per liter.
Department of Energy monitoring from March 24 to 30 showed Metro Manila diesel prices ranging from P105 to P131.90 per liter, averaging around P119.20. Post-hike, prices could reach P117.50 to P144.80, with common pump prices near P131 to P132.
Gasoline for RON95 ranged from P84.99 to P108.90 and may rise toward P100 to P112 after adjustments of P1 to P2.90. Kerosene, already at P140 to P166.79, could climb further by P2 to P2.40.
To stabilize supply, the Department of Energy reported 22.58 million liters of diesel arriving under the Emergency Energy Security Program. Petron secured 2.48 million barrels of crude oil from Russia to support supplies until June. Authorities stated these steps aim to cushion domestic impacts from global oil market volatility.
