Florida man gets 40 years for murdering girlfriend

Robert Hendrix was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend Kristin Carrier. The killing occurred in Jacksonville, Florida, shortly before Hurricane Milton struck in October 2024.

Hendrix, 33, admitted to shooting and stabbing the 43-year-old Carrier. His mother discovered the body wrapped in a tarp while sheltering at his home during the storm.

Deputies responded after the mother and sister confronted Hendrix and alerted police. Evidence collected included a knife, baseball bat, and gun, along with blood patterns throughout the residence.

A witness reported hearing Carrier yelling on October 9, 2024. Cellphone records placed her alone with Hendrix at the time.

Hendrix, a convicted felon, also pleaded guilty to possessing ammunition and methamphetamine. Formal charges were filed in February 2025.
