Addis Ababa, July 6, 2026 - The funeral of veteran Ethiopian singer Rahel Yohannes, known for captivating audiences with her zemen ayshure and traditional songs, is scheduled to take place today in Addis Ababa.

Rahel Yohannes passed away after a successful artistic career that included many memorable works shared with the public.

She was the mother of two sons and four daughters. The funeral service will be held at 8 a.m. at the Debre Mihret Sahelite Mihret Kidist Mariam and Kidist Kristos Semra Cathedral under the Addis Ababa Diocese.
