Jamieri blends Georgian design and café in Red Hook

Keti Chichinadze opened Jamieri in late 2024 as a design studio and café on Van Brunt Street in Brooklyn's Red Hook, showcasing Georgian creatives in ceramics, furniture, fashion, and print. The space recently added a café serving Georgian-inspired bites like jams, preserves, and pastries alongside coffee and tea. It aims to create immersive experiences combining art, design, and food.

Jamieri serves as a platform for Georgian culture in New York City. Owner Keti Chichinadze, born in Tbilisi and a New York resident since the early 2000s, drew inspiration from her background in film school, production design, and interior design. A 2017 trip to Tbilisi helped her connect with artists whose works now fill the space, including clay pieces from Crater Ceramics, candleholders by Idaaf Architects led by Nana Zaalishvili, photographs by Guram Tsibakhashvili, embroidered linens by Pito Seturi, aluminum furniture from Studio Gypsandconcrete, and jacquard tapestries by Levan Mindiashvili. Vintage items like hand-painted clay vessels and a Robert Sonneman chrome wall lamp complement the collection. The studio underwent renovations, stripping layers of paint from the original tin ceiling and adding plastered walls and arches. Chichinadze stated, “I think that the way we do things is very important versus what we do,” emphasizing style in presentation. The café offers organic products and imports from Georgia, such as adjika, plum, and cornelian cherry jams with sourdough from South Brooklyn Bakery and bean-cheese pastries. “It’s not to come in and eat a meal, it’s more to have an experience,” she explained. Jamieri hosts events and pop-ups, including a recent collaboration with Colbo in the Lower East Side, evolving as a dynamic showroom.
