President Lee Jae Myung described Mongolia as a "close friend" and vowed to expand cooperation benefiting both peoples during a state dinner in Ulaanbaatar on July 11.
"South Korea and Mongolia are countries that regard each other as close friends and share deep trust and a special bond," Lee said at the banquet hosted by Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh. He expressed hope that the friendship and strategic partnership would deepen based on long-standing mutual understanding.
Around 40 South Korean business leaders attended, including LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun and SK Group Vice Chairman Lee Hyung-hee. Lee presented a traditional Korean bow and arrow along with a smartwatch to the Mongolian president.
The visit marks the first such trip by a South Korean president in 15 years, with both sides agreeing to expand cooperation including in critical mineral supply chains.
