Makina Releases Cassiel II Brutalist Chronograph on Presale

Philippine microbrand Makina has launched its new flagship watch, the Cassiel II, a first automatic chronograph with a distinctly industrial design. The timepiece went on presale at US$1,850 with deliveries expected from August 10.

The Makina Cassiel II features a 42mm stainless steel case with sandblasted finish and polished accents. It uses a Valjoux/ETA 7750 movement and includes an asymmetrical integrated rubber strap. The dial employs rotating discs and cut-out displays instead of traditional sub-dials for a layered, unconventional look. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters. After the presale ends, the price will rise to US$2,100 or more. The brand emphasizes form over function in its industrial aesthetic approach.
