An 87-year-old woman in Falmouth, Massachusetts, was attacked by a man who entered her home through a window on May 25. Police arrested 27-year-old Neil O'Flaherty after linking him to the incident.
The woman heard noises in her bedroom on Austin Stokes Drive around 9 p.m. She found the intruder, who grabbed her by the neck and shoulders before dragging her down the hallway. O'Flaherty allegedly tried to kiss her, pushed her to the floor, and covered her face with a blanket, restricting her breathing. Her 87-year-old husband, who is blind and uses a walker, approached and scared the suspect away through the same window. O'Flaherty faces charges of aggravated burglary, kidnapping, assault with intent to murder, assault and battery on a person age 60 or older, and breaking and entering in the nighttime for a felony. He was arraigned in Falmouth District Court this week. The suspect was not known to the residents, and police said the woman did not suffer serious injuries.
