Chattanooga police responded to reports of a shooting at the Bank of America branch on Gunbarrel Road around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. They found the 28-year-old employee in the lobby with injuries initially thought to be from a gunshot. Authorities later determined he had been stabbed, punched, and targeted with several gunfire rounds that missed, according to an affidavit cited by local reports. The worker was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Martin was located in the bank parking lot. When questioned, he recalled entering the bank to access his safety deposit box and being in a room with employees. He described jumping over a half door with his gun drawn, firing shots, and attempting to prevent others from entering due to fears of a death inside, per the affidavit. Police charged Martin with attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. He is held in Hamilton County Jail on a $575,000 bond and is due in court on June 9. The reason for Martin's sudden anger remains unclear.
