Andy Park, Marvel Studios' director of visual development, has left the company after 16 years as part of broader Disney layoffs. Park announced his exit on social media, reflecting proudly on his contributions to over 40 films. The departure aligns with Disney's efforts to streamline operations under new CEO Josh D'Amaro.
Andy Park shared his departure from Marvel Studios on social media, marking the end of his tenure from 2010 to 2026. 'Marvel Studios Visual Development: 2010–2026. End of an era. I was there at the start of a team that broke the mold. 16 years, 40+ films, and 15 films led as Director of Visual Development, I couldn’t be prouder of the history we made,' Park wrote. He added, 'My journey continues…' despite the layoff circumstances. Park began at the studio in 2010 with 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and later contributed concept art for 'Deadpool and Wolverine' and costume designs for Captain Marvel in 'The Marvels.' Sources indicate Park's exit is tied to Disney's elimination of about 1,000 roles, mainly from forming a consolidated enterprise marketing division led by Asad Ayaz, chief marketing and brand officer. The layoffs have affected Marvel Studios staff in Los Angeles and New York as the studio scales back its production slate. Disney, under new CEO Josh D'Amaro, aims to 'streamline our operations' across the company. Marvel plans to maintain a small visual development team, hiring on a project-by-project basis while committing to collaborations with artists. Ryan Meinerding remains in place as head of visual development, with the team reporting to him.
