MDB tells STF it has no quota for parliamentary amendments

The MDB informed the Supreme Federal Court that it has no quotas or mechanisms to allocate parliamentary amendments. The statement responds to remarks by PL president Valdemar Costa Neto.

The national presidency of the MDB told minister Flávio Dino that the allocation of amendments rests exclusively with parliamentarians. The party denied any power of the presidency to define, manage or distribute the funds.

The response was filed within the ten-day deadline set by Dino after Valdemar’s remarks. The PL president had suggested that all party leaders indicate the destination of amendments.

In the document, MDB lawyers stated there is no legal basis to assign this role to the national presidency. Valdemar, for his part, denied to the STF that he holds any quota and said he only makes political suggestions.
