Nato køber GlobalEye-overvågningsfly fra Saab

Nato står til at købe flere GlobalEye-overvågningsfly fra Saab i en milliardhandel, erfarer SVT. Aftalen forventes at blive præsenteret tirsdag på et industriforum i Ankara.

Nato planlægger at udskifte dele af sin flåde på 14 Boeing-radarovervågningsfly. SVT har erfaret, at Saabs GlobalEye skal erstatte mere end halvdelen af flyene.

Aftalen beskrives som omfattende og prestigefyldt. Den skal præsenteres som en af flere store forsvarsbeslutninger under Natos industriforum, der afholdes i forbindelse med topmødet i Ankara.

GlobalEye er udviklet af Saab og er installeret på canadiske Bombardier-fly. Sverige, Frankrig og De Forenede Arabiske Emirater har tidligere bestilt systemet, og Canada har vist interesse.

“Vi henviser spørgsmål om deres interesse for GlobalEye til Nato,” siger Mattias Rådström, pressechef hos Saab.
