Maulana Yunus (34) was arrested after sending a bomb threat to SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on July 13, 2026. The suspect claimed it was just a prank, but police continue to probe his motives.
Police received the bomb threat report around 07:30 WIB during MPLS activities. The Gegana bomb squad and Densus 88 Antiteror searched 16 school rooms with a K-9 unit.
Polda Metro Jaya's Director of General Criminal Investigation, Commissioner Iman Imannudin, said the suspect claimed the act was done out of mischief. Investigators also found that Maulana had previously sent a similar message to the local RT head.
Densus 88 confirmed the incident did not constitute terrorism. Police are now examining the suspect's mental condition and providing psychological support to students and parents.
Maulana faces charges under Articles 600 and/or 601 of the KUHP, carrying a penalty of five to 20 years in prison.
