Indonesia's Attorney General's Office has denied allegations of intimidation via brownies given to Amsal Christy Sitepu in his alleged village funds corruption case in Karo Regency. The incident is described as part of the 'Humanistic Prosecutor' program for persuasive approaches to detainees. The office invites reports with evidence of any violations.
Videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu from Karo Regency faces charges of inflating budgets for video production for 20 villages in the area. Prosecutors and auditors assessed he exaggerated costs for services like ideas and editing.
On Monday, March 30, 2026, during a closed meeting with DPR RI's Commission III, Amsal claimed direct intimidation from a prosecutor via a box of brownies with the message, "just follow the flow. Don't make a fuss, shut down those contents."
Head of Kejagung's Legal Information Center, Anang Supriatna, denied the allegations on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. "No. Intimidation means pressure under threat. According to the chief prosecutor's account, no intimidation occurred. None," he said. He explained the cake-giving was part of the 'Humanistic Prosecutor' program targeting all detainees, not just Amsal.
"Regarding the cake-giving, it's just their program under humanistic prosecutors; not only him, several others received it too," he added. Kejagung remains open to Amsal reporting to oversight if evidence exists.
Meanwhile, Gekrafs Chairman Kawendra Lukistian demanded Amsal's release at the same meeting. "One oppressed means all 27.4 million creative economy fighters in Indonesia feel oppressed," he stated.
