Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has rejected allegations over a controversial video, while opposition parties demand his resignation and a social boycott.
On Wednesday, Bhagwant Mann said in a video message that the Congress, BJP and Akali Dal had formed a common front to defame him on religious grounds. He reiterated that the forensic report cleared him and there was no resemblance to the person in the video.
Opposition parties accused Mann of undermining the authority of the Akal Takht and demanded action under the new anti-sacrilege law. Congress leaders called for a complete social boycott and his resignation.
Gurgaon Police secured eight days’ custody of Arun Mahendru and Ankit Bhardwaj in connection with an alleged bribe to produce a fake forensic report. The court was told no laboratories existed at the addresses linked to the report.
