Seiko unveils one-off Star Time watch for Shohei Ohtani

Seiko has created a unique mechanical watch to celebrate Shohei Ohtani's tenth anniversary as its ambassador in Japan. The one-off Star Time tracks cumulative time up to one million hours using five rotating discs.

Seiko spent three years developing the watch after Ohtani asked how much time remained in his baseball career. The Star Time displays periods of 24 hours, 1,000 hours, 10,000 hours, 100,000 hours, and one million hours on concentric discs. It also shows the current time in a 24-hour format on the innermost disc.

Seiko Chairman, CEO, and CCO Shinji Hattori presented the watch to Ohtani. The 41.8mm high-intensity titanium case holds a blue multilayer display with a diamond set into each rotating disc. A box-shaped sapphire crystal protects the mechanism, and the watch pairs with a blue silicone strap rated for 10 bars of water resistance.

The company built the Star Time as a single unique piece and has no plans to produce or sell additional versions.
