Vraget af Havmanden skal undersøges igen

Vraget af det danske skib Havmanden i Göteborgs nordlige skærgård skal undersøges på ny. Marinarkæologer håber at få ny indsigt i skibets konstruktion og bjærge personlige genstande.

Fregatten Havmanden var på vej mod øen Sankt Thomas i 1683 med straffefanger ombord. Mytterister overtog skibet nær Azorerne, og skibet sank senere i Göteborgs nordlige skærgård. Marinarkæologer planlægger at undersøge vraget for at få mere viden om dets konstruktion og for at sikre det for fremtiden. Arbejdet udføres i samarbejde med Bohusläns museum. "Med en beskyttende overdækning senere i år vil vi bremse forfaldet og bevare denne mørke, men vigtige historie, så den ikke forsvinder på havbunden", siger museumsinspektør Andreas Kallmeyer Bloch fra Nationalmuseet.
