A chain of technical faults and crew issues has left around 400 Swedish Ving passengers stranded on Crete. The flight from Chania to Arlanda is delayed more than 18 hours.

The passengers were due to fly home during the night to Sunday but the plane suffered technical problems already at Arlanda on Saturday evening. Departure was postponed almost two hours and four passengers opted out which required unloading of luggage.

The plane took off for Crete at 01.50 but the crew lacked sufficient rest time for the return flight. Passengers had to spend the night at the airport where hotels were unavailable due to peak season.

Ving has arranged temporary facilities and meal vouchers of 20 euro per person. Departure is now scheduled for 01.10 during the night to Monday. Anna Hagberg at Ving regrets the situation and says it is a challenging chain of events.
