NJPW wrestler Callum Newman has hinted at a possible return to AEW following an injury that prevented his planned appearance at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
Newman was set to appear at the June 28 event alongside Gabe Kidd, Tomohiro Ishii and Sareee. The appearance was tied to Jon Moxley’s match but was scrapped after the star suffered a shoulder dislocation.
The injury occurred during the June 14 NJPW Dominion event, where Newman lost the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Yota Tsuji. He has been out of action since that match.
Following the cancellation, Newman posted on social media asking, “Is the door still open?” He previously competed for AEW on the April 8 episode of Dynamite as part of United Empire.
Will Ospreay, Newman’s former ally, won the men’s Owen Hart Tournament final at Forbidden Door and has aligned with the Death Riders group.
